Over the next five years, the overarching goal of the Pew Environment Group's climate work is to persuade the United States to join with other developed nations in setting mandatory controls on greenhouse gas emissions by accomplishing the following objectives:
1. Secure the adoption of a United States climate policy that sharply reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
2. Achieve a second round of reduction commitments by developed nations, including the United States, under the Kyoto Protocol, as well as tailored emissions reduction measures to be implemented by China, India and other rapidly developing nations.
